Bounce back against Bromleians

A game of two matches...or whatever the expression is when you play poorly in the first match and strike back well in the second.
In the last home match of the season, with only 9 players at Tomasz's disposal, Balham started very poorly in the first match. They simple could not settle, and did not create any chances in the first half of the game. By the break, they were three down after the team in pink took every single chance - including a rocket shot from the edge of an area and a familiar header from 8 yards out.
In the second half, the Whites got themselves together and created some chances. Jude was somehow denied from a goalmouth scramble, George shot wide from distance, and Jude's free-kick was well stopped. Jacob made one good save with his feet, but the Bromleians scored another on the break to put a very disappointing look to the first match. 0-4 and well defeated.
The second match was a completely different story though. Even in this match, we made life difficult for ourselves, conceding from a harsh free-kick right at the edge of the area. The wall was not ready and the midfielder took advantage blasting the ball into the corner.
Whilst the away team looked dangerous when they attacked, Amine created a few chances when skipping down the right flank. Dylan also put an excellent cross in which Jude could not quite convert.
As the second half began though the same two players combined and Balham had their equaliser. As the game was shaping up to a grand finale, disaster struck as Chris was accidentally stood on when defending. Balham were down to 8 for the last few minutes, and the outlook did not look great.
Astonishingly though, the Whites were on the front foot. Will had a chance after a keeper error, but Jude managed to score curling the ball in from the edge of the box.
With five minutes to go, it looked like the 8 men might snatch an unlikely victory. Sadly, the familiar foe of a quick break unlocked Balham with the under-strength defence stranded.
Credit to the boys though as they did not let their heads drop and really could have won it at the last. Will hit a chance just over and in the last minute hit a thumping shot towards the top corner, which the keeper, who had looked shaky to that point, managed to claw away. The resulting corner was the last action of the game and Wilbur's header flew just wide.
